When I was in grade school, the first question my friends asked me when they heard I was taking drum lessons was always a very enthusiastic, "Can you twirl your sticks?!?!"
    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL...SO true, then.

Virgil on the MD video, he misses a couple of them while doing fast alternate triplets or something, and it's kinda hard to watch if u know what I mean. It's kinda like missing a "dunk" if u know what I mean. Not exactly planned, I' m sure
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">For some reason, the new WMP won't dl that link...but i don't rem VD dropping a stick while trying to twirl...but [& if my mem serves me correctly], in the 2nd track he played along with [intro in 11/16 w DB], i do rem him dropg while doing some fast cross-tom-to-tom/cym to cym [single?] strokes, then picking another stick up while going to 1 of the FTs w the other hand...nice save, i thought...i think it's good that that was left in there because it shows he's human[?!] aft all; & it IS a great save ["of face"]afterwards...heck, if you can play like Virg [AWA "twirl"], no big deal...he's afforded the luxury [img]wink.gif[/img]

Sonny Emory is also another great "stick-tricker"...AWA T Lang [duh]...

Can I go to Freddie Gruber to get tips on twirling for the maximum orgasmic effect?
I remember being told that the Carmine Appice was twirling his sticks the incorrect way. Dammit.
We did a bunch of tricks in drumline and now I am a fairly good pen twirler.

Good drummers are allowed to twirl.
    Bad drummers are not.

The words "respect" and "Rikki Rocket" should never belong in the same sentance, no matter the circumstance

Rikki Rockett? You don't KNOW who Rikki Rockett is? Why, ask Rickki Rachtman who Rikki Rockett is, but don't ask Don Dokken who Rikki Rockett is, cuz he will say that it's Rikki Rachtman and not Michael Monroe or Nikki Sixx.

    LOL

I went to that link, neber, & ohhh maaan...that guy's on his own planet, maybe even galaxy...

Since neber brought it up;=) [& it's a diff topic ;=)], i'm gonna go ahead & say it here...

I think it's a wholesome thing that Rudy doesn't know who Stikki Frikki Sprockett is...Sneaky Wreaky Crockett ...Freaky Tweaky Krakhed...Ranky Wankee Wanker...

    Attitude-wise, maybe he & gtrsts T Isheda or V Vincent should hook up...oh, no, wait a second...maybe not...Vincent has some technique...[AND he's less pretentious]...DOHH

    Just MHO ;=)

    Jimi -

I just did a first pass through your videos....great stuff man! Thanks for sharing! You really did a good job of showing how each move works--a great learning resource.

How did you learn all the techniques? Obviously it takes a lot of practice to get the techniques down, but I had a hard time even figuring out how the techniques are supposed to work.

    Thanks again!!
